Tarot Songs
Saturday, July 12th 19:00
Palazzo Corsini al Prato
Clara Barbier Serrano and Joanna Kacperek
In this recital, the songs are paired with cards from the Tarot de Marseille and performed in random order. We start the concert with Schumann's "Die Kartenlegerin", during which we draw the first cards. We then ask audience members to pick the next ones: that way, the order of the concert is decided in the moment, which creates a unique and collective experience of the concert.
Songs are paired with cards on the ground of common themes, characters, particular energies. Some pairing are obvious, such as 'The Moon" and Schubert's 'An den Mond', others more mysterious such as "Strength" Ingeborg von Bronsart’s “Die Lorelei”. The audience is left free to imagine the link between card and song.
